Guatemala City is in the highlands which is like a backbone ridge that runs down the center of Central America. The elevation is about 4500 feet at its highest point in the city.

We have been to Guatemala twice in the last couple of years. Our favorite areas are Lake Atitlan to the west of Guatemala City and the beautiful city of Antigua which is only about an hour drive to the southwest of Guatemala City.
