A Day in El Valle de Anton Panama

As a professional geologist, El Valle de Anton, is a dream visit. (Location Map) It is one of the few towns in the world that is within a volcanic crater.  We spent a day in El Valle before driving down to the coast.  Standing in the center of town, you can view the rims of the crater in a 360 degrees view.

The town is at an elevation of about 2000 feet and is about 15 miles off the main Pacific Coast Highway known as the Pan American Freeway.   The town is known for its craftsmen and artists.  We witnessed craftsman making handmade jewelry and wood carvings.  They are superbly made and the prices are reasonable.  We purchased a number of gifts in El Valle.

The town is known for its outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, hot springs and cycling.  Unfortunately we only spent a day here but it is a spot you can spend a few days if you enjoy the outdoors.   Don’t go here if you are looking for night life.  There is not much.  Shown below is Blake with the famed inventor, Gruber, who makes the well-known Gruber’s Jungle Juice.  It gets rid of wrinkles, helps repel insects and helps with skin problems.  We heard about it all week then happened to run into Mr. Gruber!Blake and Gruber El Valle Panama
